
The term of the American dream is not easily defined, and has subjective meaning to many who claim it. For example, Martin Luther King Jr. said: “I have a dream”. He dreamt of racial equality. Immigrants who want to come to America dream of success in life as a result of hard work. Some other Americans may dream of purchasing a big house and a nice car. ![]()
Thomas Friedman, a columnist for The New York Times, said recently in Beijing that globalization was creating about 3 billion new consumers in the world, all with their own version of the American dream: a house, a car, a refrigerator, a toaster, and a microwave.![]()
Well, I had never known that toasters and microwaves were parts of the American dream
