Tax Relief and Election

The gasoline prices at the pump have tumbled since August. The Dow Jones industrial average on Wall Street has set up the new record high in recent days. “No question that a strong economy is going to help our candidates,” President Bush said in a CNBC interview two weeks ago, “primarily because they have got something to run on, they can say our economy’s good because I voted for tax relief.”

Well, as the battle to control the U.S. Congress has entered the final week, the polls showed that President Bush’s overall approval rating was only at 34 percent.
