We all know that Wal-Mart has had a long history of banning labor unions from its company, and we also know that Wal-Mart’s policy was strongly criticized by human rights groups.
Now, according to All-China Federation of Trade Unions, Wal-Mart’s workers are setting up their unions at all 66 Wal-Mart stores in China this month. The new union members believed that the union membership would assist them in their negotiations with Wal-Mart for the better benefits and better working conditions in the future.
So, this is supposed to be good news, right?
Well, the human rights groups say the establishment of the union in Wal-Mart stores in China would allow the Chinese government to tighten control over the rapidly expanding private-sector work force.
Ah, Chinese government. What an exciting target for the human rights group!

Talk about being caught between a rock and a hard place...
