“To surpass Britain and catch up with the U.S.” This has been China’s dream for 50 years.
According to recent World Bank Statistics, China’s GDP reached US$2.26 trillion, a little higher than Britain, becoming the fourth largest economy in the world.
Since 1978, China’s GDP has grown at an average rate of 9.5 percent over the past 27 years, three times higher than that of the U.S. and faster than any other economy.
Many economists estimate that there is still great potential for China’s GDP to grow, because the GDP per capita for China is quite small, and only ranked around 100th among the world’s economies.
Well, I believe that living happily everyday is more important than the GDP dream.
