Red Dragon, Red China, and Red Army; these kind of words are heard frequently from the CNN Lou Dobbs Tonight show. Now, some may need to remind Lou to update his database by adding one more character, Red Taiwan.
Red, as a communism symbol, was unmentionable in Taiwan for a long period of time. In fact, the color is particularly associated here with the Chinese Communist Party on the mainland in the past. But, time has changed. Today, millions of people in Taiwan wear red T-Shirts to participate in the “people power” movement that demands the resignation of the corrupting President Chen Shui-bian.
The Taiwanese say people have the right to choose any color.
