Experts estimated that China provides over seventy percent of the fuel and forty percent of the food to North Korea each year. Reportedly, China has also offered a two billion US dollar aid package when Chinese President Hu Jintao visited North Korea one year ago. China hopes that the economic aids would help the people in North Korea and improve the relationship between the two nations. However, it seems that North Korea did not appreciate China’s help very much.
Frankly, North Korea’s nuclear test was a big blow to the Chinese government’s Korean policy. China adapted the soft approach in order to solve the conflicts through dialogue and to maintain the stability in this region, but North Korea obviously refused to cooperate with China’s efforts. This is the bottom line.
It is not too late to reconfirm this point for China
