Are the Chinese Overconfident?

A poll conducted by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs (CCGA) showed that most Chinese saw themselves as the second greatest power in the world, and would become an equivalent force of the United States within the next ten years.

I understand that most of the Chinese want to see the country become the superpower of the world, not only economically, but also militarily. I can see this kind of mood across websites. However, China is not the second greatest power in the world yet, and past performances do not guarantee the future.

The poll also showed that most Asians said U.S. influences would not decline very much over the next decade.
