U.S.-China Trade Talks (I)
Susan Schwab, the newly appointed U.S. trade representative, said at an event hosted by American Chamber of Commerce in Beijing on Tuesday:

“We are now, ourselves, major beneficiaries of China’s rapid development. The U.S. manufactures, farmers and service providers have seen U.S. exports to China grow at an average of 22 percent a year since China joined the WTO in December of 2001, and The U.S. consumers enjoy access to a wide array of high-quality and competitively priced products.”

Susan Schwab’s generosity in praising China surprised many audiences. The Chinese said the US top trade official’s kindness reflected stronger cooperation between the two countries.

It seems that being fooled by nice words is a part of human nature.
