A survey found that the average cost of a wedding ceremony in Shanghai was nearly 190,000 Yuan, (about 24,000 US dollars), almost 400% higher than 4 years ago. More than 50% of the wedding costs relied on the parents’ support. People complained that it was really too expensive for young couples to get married these days.
However, some experts said that the Chinese would love to spend a lot on wedding ceremonies; this has been a part of tradition for a long time. Though weddings are costing more and more, with the support of two families, young people should not have to worry too much.
