After taking office as Italian Prime Minister for four months, Romano Prodi, who called himself as an old friend of the Chinese people, arrived in China on Wednesday, accompanied by four ministers, one junior minister, and three undersecretaries, plus the representatives of twelve of Italy’s twenty regions, and over 700 business leaders.
Prodi said Italian companies had a unique position to catch the opportunities presented by China’s remarkable development, and to explore the Chinese market. On the other hand, Prodi also said Italy’s market was open to the Chinese consumer goods companies, and the investment companies.
Prodi was an economic professor and broadly regarded as a center-left Italian politician. But, it seems that he is a good sales person for his country too.
