China’s official news agency, Xinhua, issued the revised regulations last Sunday, requiring domestic subscribers to foreign news and financial news to register through the agency. The new rules explicitly forbid foreign news agencies to distribute news, information and data that undermine China’s national unity, or jeopardize China’s national security, reputation, and interest.
Government officials said although they wanted to see the media commercialized, they have concerns about the spread of “fake news.”
James McGregor, who was the Chief Executive of Dow Jones’s China, said “Xinhua wants to make the money instead of the foreigners. This is not a control issue – they already have control. This is a money issue.”
What is your opinion?

Fake news is everywhere. Even government creates fake news.
