Wal-Mart Gaining International Experience

Wal-Mart operates in 14 countries. I though so, too. Is that all?

Carrefour, the French retail giant has more stores in more countries - 29 countries altogether.

Both countries have been having a hard time in Asia - getting their butts kicked by the South Koreans...and eventually leaving that country.

And both have yet to make the inroads they desire in China. Chinese retailers still dominate the domestic economy.

I wonder...does Wal-Mart and Carrefour really think they can buy from the Chinese and sell it back to them cheaper than the Chinese can do for themselves?

It doesn't seem doable to me.

What do you think?
