It is estimated that China now has 107 million babies with the baby products’ annual sales of 500 billion Yuan (US$62.5 billion). However, the market outlook is not very optimistic as many middle-class, white-collar people prefer to remain single.
It is said that there were already millions single people in Shanghai, and other city such as Beijing and Guangzhou are also follow the “staying single” trend.
Sociologists said young Chinese people today care more about personal freedom and life enjoyment. The high cost of marriages is also one of the reasons to stay single.
Many young adults complain that the marriage is not a cost-efficient thing to do, because it takes so much money to buy a house and raise a child.
I think some parents may be worrisome.
Well, not that it is any of my business.

it is somewhat the same thing here. it is hard enough to support yourself, then try to start a family and you better have a good paying job. to get married costs money, at least the over the top way that many people do it. the bigger and better mentality overshadows the idea that it is a day that should be special to the two people who are getting married. if that costs five dollars or five million is up to the couple.
