Dr Kanazawa’s study shows that “physically attractive parents have more daughters, and less attractive parents have more sons.” In his study, Kanazawa found that beautiful women are 36% more likely to have a baby daughter than a baby son as their first child.
I used to think that baby boys and girls are distributed randomly. Thus the ratio of boy/girl at birth is closed to 50/50. I never thought that having baby girls or boys had anything to do with the looks of their parents.
Women and men are supposed to be equal in a modern society. But, China has thousands years of agrarian traditions. Sons as a major source of labor supply would bring in more income for a family. Because of this deeply rooted cultural influence, today, many Chinese families still desire a son as their first child.
Perhaps I should translate this research paper into Chinese. Under the constraint of the one-child policy, Dr. Kanazawa’s “suggestion” is, don’t marry a physically attractive woman, if you want to have a son.

Wow i never thought having a smoking hot wife would get you a bunch of girls. but what makes a girl pretty? remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
