Bank of China is China's second-largest lender. A couple of managers at one of BOC's southern branches embezzled $485 million before getting caught in the US where they had fled using false identities.
The two will face trial in Las Vegas this year after another top executive ratted them out last year.
Thieves in China get executed. Their days are indeed numbered. They are likely thankful they are being tried in the US. Were their trial in China, they would likely be long dead by now.
China's number four bank is China Construction Bank. Their former CEO has been arrested on suspicion of bribe taking. That's another form of stealing, just with a different name. His days are numbered, too.
China is vulnerable to corruption, too. Where there is money, there is greed. My question is, how is that people don't notice that $485 million went missing?
