China Kills 50,000 Dogs!

Three people contracted rabies in southern China. Chinese officials responded by killing ALL the dogs in the area...all 50,000 of them.

Now, I am not an animal activist. I am not any kind of activist.

But, officials walked about and clubbed to death 50,000 dogs. Beat them to death with sticks!

Holy smokes.

Fido was yanked away from his master during his evening walk and beaten to death on the spot....then taken home for dinner, no doubt, as the main course.

Spot was alarmed by people walking about outside late at night and then dragged to the street and whacked into doggy heaven.

After the communist take over of 1949, dog ownership was seen as a sign of affluence and generally thought to be pests by the average Wang.

Though attitudes have softened, Gizmo the dog is still no friend to many.

So, who did the counting, I wonder?

Wow 50,000 dogs dead because of some crazy people. That sucks a lot. I think that such things should not be allowed. The Chinese need to think before they act

i think that is crazy walking down the street one day then "hey give your dog"
"smack"
oh know my dog!
and you really can't do nuthing about it thats crazy and that is alot of dogs

oh no rember dont walk your dog no more.

And they think they have a bad name with the human rights activist. It shows what a government can and will do when they have complete power over it's people. Someone should inform them that "dog is mans best friend." Now I see why China wants a TV station in the middle east.

I heard about Chinese eat any thing that moves, but I didn't expect them to eat their best friend and guardian!

You must remember they did this in the 70's too. The only reason the Chinese Shar-Pei still exists is because less than 20 of them made it to the USA in very poor condition! This does not surprise me, yet it horrifies me. I raise Shar-Pei, my poor niece called me crying when she saw (before me) a dog that looked like one of mine she holds dear being beaten to death. This could have been prevented by innoculating pets against rabies, not just over-reacting as they have. One more thing on my mind, how do they know for certain the rabies is from dogs? Do they not have any other animal there that is known to carry the disease?
