
Wal-Mart is accelerating the pace of its store openings in China. It will open one new store about every three weeks this year, compared to Carrefour's pace of one a month.
Carrefour is bigger than Wal-Mart in China. But Wal-Mart is bigger than Carrefour.
Wal-Mart's global sales was $285 billion - three times that of Carrefour.
And...and...Wal-Mart purchased $18 billion in products from Chinese manufacturers.
Carrefour may be leading Wal-Mart in China now, but not for long.

Carrefour sales rose by 25% to $2.2bn in 2005, making it China's ninth-biggest retailer by sales. German retailer Metro was another strong performer, with sales up 19%. Wal-Mart failed to appear in the list of China's top 30 retailers.
