Four groups in America were polled about their impressions of China -
1. General Public
2. Opinion Leaders
3. Congressional Staff
4. Business Leaders
One question they were asked was
Have you ever visited China, Taiwan or Hong Kong?
More than half of the Congressional Staff (56%) have never been to any of the three places. Then what are they doing making policy?!
Nearly two/thirds of business leaders (63%) have never taken the trip. Then who are they trusting to make business deals for them?
Opinion leaders (70%) have gone no where. So much for their opinions!
And ninety percent of the general public wonder why they can't find Hong Kong on a map of Japan. They haven't been to Taiwan, China or Hong Kong.
As for me, I have been to all three.
How about you?

When you think of the importance of China, it does boggle the mind at the lack of interest being shown.
You'd think there would be continuous trips and excursions that at least did some general emersion into their culture.
I've had a number of dealings with the Chinese and find them very enjoyable, but challenging to work with.
