Four groups in America were polled about their impressions of China -
1. General Public
2. Opinion Leaders
3. Congressional Staff
4. Business Leaders
One question they were asked is
How do you view China's Emergence as a Global Economic Power?
Does Trade with China benefit the US economy?
Do Low-cost Chinese Products Benefit American Consumers?
You would think everyone would jump on the wagon and say well, duh...don't we all like
paying less for products. But, alas...that's not the case.
I'd like to weigh in on this...but I'll refrain.
Nearly one fourth of Opinion leaders (22%) and Business Leaders (23%) think the low-cost Chinese products are not good for the US. More than one third of the General Public (35%) and almost one half of the Congressional Staff (43%) think low-cost goods are not good for American Consumers...hmmm...
On the flip side -
opinion Leaders (78%) and Business leaders (77%) like the low prices. The General Public (63%) and Congressional Staff (57%) also buy cheaply from time to time to time.
The most interesting statistic in these results, I think, are that one in ten Business
Leaders (9%) are not sure yet which is better.
what do you think?
