Haier is pronounced high-er. Don't forget the -ER.
It seems that most Americans associate goods made in China - which is just about everything - as having low quality.
Haier wants to change that image.
Haier is the world's fourth larges home appliance maker with 2005 sales of nearly $13 billion.
Hey! I have one of their appliances - a little bitty washing machine that fits in my cupboard that can wash one and half pair of blue jeans at a time. I have to continually sew them back together after I wash them.
Haier is the top selling brand of baby refrigerators. Look carefully, mind you. A wash machine is no bigger than a refrigerator and milk does not taste good with laundry detergent in it. Nor does orange juice get stains out.
Sharp competition in China has cut into Haier's profits, but with buisness heating up overseas, there seems to be a bright future for this company.
What do you think?

It seems as we get older we shrink, the world shrink with us, so as the appliances!
