The Committee of 100 survey that I have mentioned here in the past asked the question of American opinion leaders -
Americans were asked -
Is the influx of Chinese immigrating to America a positive development or a serious threat?
The American General Public and the Opinion Leaders did not see eye to eye on this one at all?
More than half (53%) of the opinion leaders think it is a good thing that Chinese are immigrating here. But less than one third (29%) of the general public think so.
is it a job thing, something else?
One in six (17%) of the general public think Chinese immigration to the US presents a serious threat to them where as the opinion leaders responded with "What threat?"
Only 3% think Chinese immigration presents a threat.
Four in ten (42%) of the opinion leaders and 49% of the general public responded with - "You mean they haven't been here all along? When did they move here?" They didn't view Chinese immigration as a good or bad thing.
What do you think of the Chinese immigrating to America?
