our groups in America were polled about their impressions of China -
1. General Public
2. Opinion Leaders
3. Congressional Staff
4. Business Leaders
One question they were asked is
Has Human Rights Situation in China improved over the previous decade?
The general public (52%), Business leaders (53%) and Opinion Leaders seem split
on this one with slightly more Opinion leaders (55%) thinking it really hasn't improved.
But the Congressional Staff... they are clear.
Nearly 7 in 10 of the Congressional Staff (69%) disagree. It's not any better now than
ever, they think. Less than one third (28%) think China's human rights has improved.
It is the congressional Staff that can make the biggest difference when push comes to
shove, no?
Or is it the business leaders that drive congress?
Aren't the members of Congress supposed to reflect the views of their constituency?
They surely don't in this case.
What do you think?
