Sergei Brin of Google recently stated that he felt that Google had compromised its principles by agreeing to China's censorship laws.
I think Google compromised their principles LONG before that when they started placing "paid advertisements" above their search results.
If one site is more popular than any other, why doesn't it show up on top in any search engine?
I'm not smart enough to know the answer, but I do know that some results are skewed - even here in the good old US.
If Google pulls out, Yahoo and MSN will remain. I for one, do NOT want someone coming to my house and telling me what my kids can and cannot watch. The search engines do NOT have that right in China either.
Repeat after me - China is NOT America. The laws are different.
In time, perhaps things will change...Yahoo and MSN should be commended (for now) for keeping their nose under the tent.
