Four groups in America were polled about their impressions of China -
1. General Public
2. Opinion Leaders
3. Congressional Staff
4. Business Leaders
One question they were asked is
Do you believe China is a dependable ally or friend of the US in the war on terrorism?
There is no division on this one as well.
More than half of of four groups think that China is NOT a friend or ally in the war on
terrorism.
Congressional Staff (64%), Business and Opinion Leaders (62%) and the General public (56%) all think that President Hu does not have a hot line for President Bush to call him on if he needs a friend.
Still about one/fourth of the general public (27%), opinon leaders (30%) and business
leaders (25%) think China might come through in a pinch. Barely one in six of the
Congressional Staff (16%) would agree.
What do you think?
