Four groups in America were polled about their impressions of China -
1. General Public
2. Opinion Leaders
3. Congressional Staff
4. Business Leaders
One question they were asked is -
How favorable is your impression of China.
The results are quite varied.
Business leaders had the smallest percentage of very unfavorable impressions - 6%
Opinion leaders and the general public were next at 9%.
But...but... 16% of the Congressional Staff (one in six) had a very unfavorable
impression of China.
---
About one fourth of the General public (26%) and Opinion leaders (28%) and
Business Leaders (29%) had a somewhat unfavorable impression.
But 63% of the Congressional Staff had a somewhat unfavorable opinion
of China...making it nearly 80% total of the Congressional Staff that doesn't have
a good impression of China.
It is the congressional Staff that can make the biggest difference when push comes to
shove, no?
Or is it the business leaders that drive congress?
Aren't the members of Congress supposed to reflect the views of their constituency?
They surely don't in this case.
What do you think?
